KOCHI: A youngster who posted sensitive photos of a Malayalam actress on social media was arrested by Kerala police today.
Police said Kiran Kumar (38) from Palakkad was arrested following a complaint lodged by the actress.
Police said the two were friends. However, once they ended their friendship, he started demanding money from her. He threatened her that if she failed to meet his demands, he will release sensitive photos of the two together, captured when they were friends. After she ignored his threat, he went ahead and posted the pictures on social media on Saturday.
Since then, the photos have gone viral and were shared widely over WhatsApp and Facebook.
Following this, the actress approached the police.
Ernakulam Assistant Commissioner K Laljy said, "Preliminary inquiry revealed that a few other people were also involved in spreading the photographs on social networking sites. They would also be arrested."
The accused has been booked under sections 354 (assault or use of criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 66 (A) of the IT Act
